About the painting:
Persephone was kidnapped by the God of the underworld (Hadis), he made her his Queen. Her mother was Demitra the Goddess of nature she became so depressed when she lost her daughter and so with her special powers she created winter. Hadis only allowed Persephone out of the underground once a year. When she did go out her mother was so happy that flowers would bloom and Spring was Created.
